The Learning Society was established in 2000 as a public-service organization with the goals of promoting and supporting progressive educational programmes for adults and children, educational research, curriculum development, operation of educational institutions, contribution to educational and academic publications and engaging in charitable acts in education within the region.

		In 2007 the organization was restructured as a company limited guarantee company by the name of Learning Society ( Singapore ) Ltd." Currently, the Learning Society has two major educational initiatives: School House by the
Bay and the Citi Foundation financial education enrichment projects.
